DSGMOV2 was a student group I was part of during my fourth semester in college. The group handled <\/span>Motion Design<\/span><\/i> demands within the college, as well as tasks that arose internally within the group.<\/span><\/p>

One of the features of DSGMOV is that for each edition, participants create a logo along with an animation to present it.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Each member makes a version, and they are posted separately on the college\u2019s Instagram. Since I participated in the second edition of the group, the logo I made included the \"2\".<\/span><\/p>

I had some initial ideas for the logo and animation. I wanted to include frame by frame animation, since in that edition of DSGMOV I was the only member working with that type of animation.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

I also wanted the logo I created to have a mutable character, representing movement and the various members of the group. I made nine versions of the logo, one for each member, so they could alternate in a loop.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

I sketched the <\/span>storyboard <\/span><\/i>for the overall animation in a notebook and discussed my ideas with the professor coordinating the group using these sketches.<\/span><\/p>

The idea of the animation was to show the design adhering to motion. That\u2019s why I started with \"DSG\" stationary, as a solid element, using a serif typeface to give it a more elegant character. I then treated \"MOV\" as something constantly changing. To give it a playful feel, I split it into three separate characters, each entering differently. When they join \"DSG\", they create a shock effect and change the rhythm of the animation.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Initially, I wanted each transition to be different. But after discussing with the course coordinator, I realized it would be too much information for the short time available. I created different versions of the logo separately, some in <\/span>After Effects<\/span><\/i> and others using frame by frame animation. I chose a glitch transition to match the \"2\", which remains fixed in the animation, and to reflect the digital focus inherent to <\/span>Motion Design<\/span><\/i> .<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
